Three thing Thursday- Changing my mind....

1. While there may have been a couple many moments when I thought that I would not want to do another adventure type race. As I look at the professional pictures from the Rugged Maniac (race report here)I'm reminded about how much I grow as a person each time I step out of my comfort zone. As I sat on top of that cargo net wall and contemplated jumping off and found the courage to do it, I became stronger and I look at what a great experience it was to have done this with my son and I know that there is a very good chance that I will do another one of these in the future. And as if I hadn't posted enough here are a couple more pics from the race.

"Come on momma"

2. So I think I’ve decided not to do the ½ marathon in November. I cut way short my long run last week because my hips after the Rugged Maniac were bothering me quite a bit. Add to that the fact that I already felt unprepared and a lack of funds after the vet and dentist bills of the last month and it’s looking like maybe just doing a couple of shorter races might be the way I go.

3.New shoes! I think I just said that....but the Asics just were not working for me. I’m back in Saucony. However this time I’m going with the Kinvara. Jill recommended the minimalist, low heel drop shoe given the fact that I’ve been having some issues with what seems to be the beginning of PF. I’ve only run in the a couple of times, but I'm pretty happy with them so far! I can't wait to try them on a longer run. They are so light it truly feels like I’m just floating instead of slogging.

- If you dont like the Kinvaras, I am a brooks fan, we can talk about thier shoes

- I enjoyed the adventure race, though, just like you, it took me out of my comfort zone, maybe thats why it was so much fun

Awww, I bet we see you in another adventure race next year :) Curious to see how you like the shoes--I debated the Kinvaras but ended with a diff pair.

You are just so dang cute sitting on top of that cargo net, you should put that in a frame on your dresser and look at it whenever you feel a tough day ahead of you. There is absolutely nothing you can't do once you set your mind to it. Marathon in 2012 perhaps?? :)

Don't blame you about the 1/2 marathon, didn't seem like your heart was in it...there'll be plenty of others this spring!

Hope the shoes continue to work for you! I just broke out another pair today and love them! I hope the Brooks gig doesn't make me wear Brooks shoes - hahah!

Fantastic pic! Great reminder that you conquered that race. What's your next "out of your comfort zone" event going to be?

Wait a second here - you're a HIM. What could possibly be out of your comfort zone??!? :-)

that race looks insane!! I would like to do a Spartan but keep thinking I'll hurt myself, I'm not terribly coordinated :)

I found your blog through Terzah! I am also from Colorado. I was having foot problems and Jill also recommended the Kinvaras. I think I am going to give them a try too. Glad to hear you like them.
