Springtime in the Rockies

Taken this morning in my front yard.

What a beautiful weekend! Saturday brought temps of 70+ degrees and when Kathleen put out the call on Facebook that she needed a 2 hour ride and was anyone interested it was impossible to refuse. Of course just as we were getting ready to leave the house the wind picks up...and up and up but ride we will! Kathleen along with Gaye from Beginners Triathlete met out at Cherry Creek. I had met Gaye last weekend at the run some of us did.

Gaye and Kathleen

The wind was blowing like crazy but it was warm and oh so nice to be off the trainer. We faced everything from strong cross winds to head winds that would almost stop you. As Gaye put it "I have never worked so hard to go so slow without going uphill. It felt great to be outside in the fresh spring air, even if said fresh spring air was doing its best to knock me off my bike!"
It was a great day!

Sunday brought a long run and another meet up with some folks from BT. Kathleen, Gaye and I were there as well as several of the guys Jon and Travis. We headed out together, but soon Kathleen and I dropped back to take it easier....ok and lets face it we are just not as fast as the others. We did however managed to crank out 8 miles. After 2 days of riding one on my trainer and then yesterday my legs were a little tired and I was oh so done at 8 miles. Really glad I decided to cut it short a couple of miles. After the run we hit up the Tavern for some breakfast and a drink. Really hit the spot.

What fun it's been getting to know some new people and how much easier it makes it to have someone out there with you as well as the get together after to look forward to. I'm looking forward to a great summer of training!

I totally had the same bike ride as you!
The headwinds and crosswinds were atrocious. I was on flats in my granny gear. RIDICULOUS!

Glad you had a great time :-)

You're in SHORT SLEEVES!! I'm so jealous. Today for my run I had on a tech tshirt, arm warmers and my jacket and felt great about half an hour into my run. :-) I can't wait til we are outside biking.

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun...even with the crazy wind!! I'm so bummed that I wasn't able to meet up with the BT crowd. Maybe next time!
