G is for....

Good..... March has been a pretty good month I think. I’m pleased with the way I kept up most of my training throughout the winter months this year.
March totals
Bike: 10h 04m 41s - 145.51 Mi
Run: 13h 38m 56s - 66.59 Mi
Swim: 3h 59m 03s - 10150 Yd

Goals.....In the past 2 half marathons I’ve just run with really no goal in mind. This first I wanted to finish in under 3 hours (yea for a ½, I’m slow I’ve learned to live with it…mostly :) ) I was at 2:59. The 2nd I hoped to do better than the first. I came in at 2:42. The training plan I’ve been doing has an estimated finish time of 2:29 (I've come in exactly where the they said I would on the last 2) and I would really like to be able to be under the 2:30 mark. Can I ? I’m not sure. On a good day I think no problem. So that is my pie in the sky goal.

Garmin... So in order to help me reach my goal of under 2:30 I think I will use the virtual partner on my Garmin. I’ve played with it a little but never really used it for a race so this will be interesting. And as I type this I’m getting a little nervous of the fact that I’ve now actually set a goal that I would like to achieve one that will not be easy for me....let’s hope for a good day.

And last but most important..

Grateful… I’m so thankful for my boys and the fact that they are, while still teenagers, respectful, responsible, grounded, happy boys. I’m thankful that we (myself, their dad and stepmom) seem to have a much different relationship with them then many maybe even most parents have with their teenagers. They actually like (on occasion) to spend time with us. I’m reminded again to be thankful for all of these things as my oldest son deals with the loss of a teammate and friend that decided life was too hard to continue.

Love this post! I think that's a great goal for your 1/2 marathon! I have no doubt that you'll go under 2:30! :)

Love the "grateful" paragraph too. I am terrified of what it will be like when my boys are teenagers!

Under 2:30? And you consider yourself slow?! You'd be passing me up for sure...
So sorry to hear of your son's friend who couldn't handle life. That is so prevalent these days, it's scary. Why do we put so much pressure on kids...
I grab a hug from my teen whenever possible-whether he likes it or not!

Wow, those are some great numbers for the month. And a great goal too. If I can ever get below 2:30 for a marathon I will be the happiest person on earth. You can do it - go for it! Great goal.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son's friend. It's wonderful that you have a relationship with your son--I'm sure this is hard for him.

Great goals! 2:30 is my half goal too. Have fun pushing yourself!! :) That's what it's all about!

I think your 1/2 marathon goal is very doable and I can't wait to read the race report when it happens!

Wow! I love stats! (I'm a closet geek I think). Anyway, I'm upping my training this month so to see your times is something to inspire towards!!! I also love the fact that you are grateful about your children that are teenagers. As a mom of a pre-teen girl and a 5 year old son (so you can image the trails/tribulations in our household) I need to stop and be grateful that I do have two wonderful children!! Thanks for the posting!
