Dog gone good training weekend!

This is Duke...my son was having fun putting the glasses on him. Cute isn't he?

So this weekend after some comments in my BT mentor group and after having read Julie at Adventure Is Out There post about her work on changing tires. She did it in 2:48! Amazing! Well anyway I decided it was time for me to play around a little and see if I could get the back tire off. I've changed front tires but never had to mess with the back tire and was just a little intimidated. So out to the garage I went, well lets just say I'm more comfortable but it was not pretty.

Truly this picture does not do justice to just how dirty my hands were. I cleaned my chain and then messed with the tire and I was a mess. However I at least feel like if I had to I could change my tire. Lord help me if it ever happens during a race. Had a nice 5 mile run on Saturday and 2200 yard swim which was farther then I've swam in a long, long time!

Sunday I headed to the east of Denver to ride with a friend and her friend. We will all be doing the metric century in 2 weeks. (Can I just say none of us are quite ready!) We weren't really sure what to expect as far as the weather went. It was in the low 40's when I left my house at 8:15 and never got much warmer. But the wind wasn't blowing and considering it's been blowing like crazy for days that was a bonus!

Not a great pic but shows some of the rolling hills we were riding.

Cool clouds. I saw a fox right off the bat, then saw antelope and deer as well as the cows and goats and one giant bull. I love riding in the country! There was hardly any traffic and it was amazing that we didn't see any other bikers. (This is a pretty popular route.) For the most part it wasn't to cold. A couple time going in to the wind things got a little chilly but mostly it wasn't bad at all.

All in all it was a fabulous ride, 40 miles 3 riding hours, but we took some breaks also. Not fast but we had fun! Will get one more long ride in next weekend before we try the metric century in 2 weeks. Should be interesting. All in all I felt fairly strong though out the whole ride.

That looks like a great place to ride! It's amazing how the winter "break" takes away all the biking endurance. I haven't hit 20 miles yet this year, but I think Steve will make this year much more enjoyable and I'll get back up to big miles!

Good job changing your tire! That looks like a lovely ride with some fun ladies. It likes like what I remember of the road to Longmont from Boulder.

What a great ride with friends!! I did a metric century this weekend - close to one of my longest rides ever! That's a long time to be in the saddle if you ask me.

Love the dirty hands! Knowing how to change your tire is SEXY! :D
