F is for..

Freakin Fantastic…I got my RUN EMZ shirt! I’m sure that most of you have read the story of EMZ and her 24 hour treadmill run, but if you haven’t go read it…all 4 parts you might want to have the Kleenex ready and then go and donate if you can.

Blurry photo with swim google eyes!

Frightened…I seem to have put a lot on my plate for the next four weeks. 1-10k 2-Sprints and 1 Century ummm yea that seems a little crazy to this girl. The 10k and one of the sprints will just be “training” so I’m going to try not to stress over them. And of course the Century is just a bike ride…a long ride but a ride none the less.

Funny…have you read Jill’s account of our epic ride this last weekend? It is very funny, you should read it.

Fantasizing….that I too am going to be off for summer vacation like the kids.

Failing…the heart rate monitor on my Garmin has been really weird. It only seems to register my HR when it feels like it. I’ve changed the battery and that didn’t seem to make a difference, is it possible that the sensors in the chest strap die or something? Note that I have a verrrryyy old Garmin.

Falsehood,...I might have told a small one when I said that I’m counting the Bolder Boulder as a training run….I really would like to set a PR. Really that shouldn’t be that hard. 1:14 is my 10k PR with a 1:17 at the BB last year. I’m actually hoping to get closer to 1:08ish but anything better then the 1:14 would make me happy especially since I will have a long ride on Saturday there will be no tapering or resting to speak of and it’s “just a training run”.

Feeling…like my training is going pretty good for so far, although I MUST get to the pool more often. I keep thinking I have plenty of time before the 70.3 but it’s now only 75 days away.
Free…of injuries! I’m feeling really good with pains at all!

Food…can’t seem to get enough.

G is for....

Good..... March has been a pretty good month I think. I’m pleased with the way I kept up most of my training throughout the winter months this year.
March totals
Bike: 10h 04m 41s - 145.51 Mi
Run: 13h 38m 56s - 66.59 Mi
Swim: 3h 59m 03s - 10150 Yd

Goals.....In the past 2 half marathons I’ve just run with really no goal in mind. This first I wanted to finish in under 3 hours (yea for a ½, I’m slow I’ve learned to live with it…mostly :) ) I was at 2:59. The 2nd I hoped to do better than the first. I came in at 2:42. The training plan I’ve been doing has an estimated finish time of 2:29 (I've come in exactly where the they said I would on the last 2) and I would really like to be able to be under the 2:30 mark. Can I ? I’m not sure. On a good day I think no problem. So that is my pie in the sky goal.

Garmin... So in order to help me reach my goal of under 2:30 I think I will use the virtual partner on my Garmin. I’ve played with it a little but never really used it for a race so this will be interesting. And as I type this I’m getting a little nervous of the fact that I’ve now actually set a goal that I would like to achieve one that will not be easy for me....let’s hope for a good day.

And last but most important..

Grateful… I’m so thankful for my boys and the fact that they are, while still teenagers, respectful, responsible, grounded, happy boys. I’m thankful that we (myself, their dad and stepmom) seem to have a much different relationship with them then many maybe even most parents have with their teenagers. They actually like (on occasion) to spend time with us. I’m reminded again to be thankful for all of these things as my oldest son deals with the loss of a teammate and friend that decided life was too hard to continue.

W is for.....take 2

I couldn't resist adding a couple more W's that I came up with today..

Wow....when it snows I like to cook...and I've been doing a bit of it today already

Chocolate Cranberry Scones
recipe found here at Tasty Kitchen some changes were made.

Pizza with Spinach/Arugula, Butternut squash, mushrooms, onions, cheese and fresh basil
Idea and crust recipe at the Athlete's Plate

Workin it off.... Warm up 30 minutes of shoveling 4" of snow from a 3 car driveway and sidewalk followed by a 3 mile 45 minute run/walk fun with picture taking...this was my very first ever run in the snow and it was a ton of fun. It was about 25 degrees the sun was shining or trying to the whole time and there was no wind. The dog had a blast. It was not fast but it was a good workout trudging through the snow in spots.

Wonderland...

And last but not least

Way cool.... most of you know that Aimee At I Tri To Be Me was giving away window clings...well mine came yesterday but I just checked the mail today! Now I just need to figure out where I want to put it......Thanks Aimee!

W is for....

Source

Well... it's time for another alphabet post! I've done a few of them so far and the are kind of fun. You can find J here and T here.

WooHoo!!... Lady, my bike, who I just named after having her for almost a year, came home from the bike shop today! Some of you may remember that my last bike was Sissy it just came to me during my ride that this one was more of a lady and thus she was named. I was missing Lady like crazy this last week. So to celebrate I brought her inside and we did a DVD that Kathleen loaned me. Rides DVD: Volume 1 The Rockies It was fantastic to be seeing some of the Boulder country side as this course follows the Boulder Peak course.

Week...this last one was not heavy on the training. But all that is gonna change this week.

Winter...we are not done with it yet...the biggest flakes I have seen this year..

Want it???? I have two books, Slow Fat Triathlete and Shape up with the Slow Fat Triathlete. I would be happy to pass these on to someone if you or anyone you know might read them. If your interested send me an email and I will send
them to the first person who expresses interest. They would be really great for a beginner or someone you would like to get interested in tri's.

Wait for it.... I have got some really good recipes coming up this week...do you like Pumpkin? I love it and you are gonna get in several different forms.

T is for...

Tired...I think it's the result of the cold medicine I've been taking,
but I'm just exhausted. It's not like I've done anything. Maybe I've
just forgotten what it's like to be sick. It has literally been years
since I've been sick. I'm not very good at it.

Turkey Trot...still debating on if/when.

Training...nope...

Trainer...thanks for all the ideas and suggestions! I must do some
research. So far I've been using my bike trainer in the garage. No TV.
The one time I used it in the house I had to turn up my TV almost as
high as it would go and still found it hard to hear, of course my
hearings not that great. :) I usually use it early in the morning
before anyone is up so wouldn't want to do it in the house and wake
everyone up.

Tacos...I've been craving Tacos & Salsa tacos. Gonna get me some tomorrow.

Terrified....I can not believe that I signed up for the 70.3. What makes
me think that I will be able to do this? I'm alternating between panic
and excitement.

Tis...tis the season. The holiday season is here, so begins the food
struggles, time struggles, money struggles and all the other struggles
that go with the end of the year.

'Tude....Seems mine isn't to good today.

J is for

Julie and all kinds of stuff....

Jiggly
For $25 Aflac Iron Girl will put together a video of you during the
race. The other day they sent out a quick clip that would appear in the
video. The one they sent me shows me running more like trotting at
the run turn around. It was not pretty and I would probably pay more
then $25 not to have seen it.

Join
I had a friend join me for my long run this past weekend. It was so nice
to have someone to keep me company. I was amazed that I was even able to
keep up a bit of a conversation while running, not something I ever
thought would be possible. We completed 9 miles 7 of them were actually
fun.

Jubilant
This last week I hit 25.2 miles running. The most I've ever run in one
week. Now considering in the not to distant past I've had months that
barley reached 25 miles I feel really good about this.

Jittery
Just 32 days until the Rock n' Roll 1/2 marathon.

Jillian
I have such a hard time trying to get myself to do any strength
training. Do you find you either like cardio or strength training? Seems
to me people are generally drawn to one or the other. Me I prefer
cardio. I've been thinking that maybe I will try to do some Jillian
DVD's in the morning to get in some strength training.

Joyous
I'm planning to do some riding this weekend with a friend. It's been so
long since I've just gone on a nice easy ride maybe stopping for coffee
or lunch and just generally having a nice relaxing time out on the bike.
I can't wait!

Jump
I really need to jump back in the pool. It's been weeks, in fact I don't
think I've swam since the last tri.

Jumbo
I just wanted to send out a really big thank you to all of you that take
the time to stop by and find out what is going on in my life. I
appreciate the encouragement and advice that you take the time to give.
It means a lot to me.
